Mengmeng Li received the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degree in the School of Electrical Engineering from Zhengzhou University, China in 2014, 2017 and 2022 respectively. He is currently a Lector in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, Zhengzhou University, China. His research interests include pattern recognition, neural network, biological neural signal processing, brain-computer interface and brain-inspired computation model.

John F. Bebawy, MD is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology & Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University.  His clinical and research interests and expertise relate to Neuroanesthesia, with a focus on interventions that affect cerebral blood flow and cerebrovascular hemodynamics.  Dr. Bebawy completed his Anesthesiology residency and Neurosurgical Anesthesiology fellowship training at Northwestern in 2008, where he is currently faculty and Program Director of the Neurosurgical Anesthesiology Fellowship Program.  He is a member of many national and international societies for the advancement of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology, has published widely on various topics in the field, and has spoken at many meetings throughout the world on areas within his expertise.  Dr. Bebawy is devoted and committed to the betterment of patient safety through individualized and compassionate clinical care, as well as through his contribution to the scientific community.

Dr. Zhi Dong Zhou is graduated as a medical doctor in 1991 and had 5 years of postgraduate clinical training in internal medicine in China. Subsequently he acquired my Ph.D from Chinese Academy of Science, Shanghai Branch and started me research career in Singapore on dopamine (DA) neuron degeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD). Later he joined the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) as a member of the Singapore National PD Translational Bench to Bedside team and continue to work on DA neuron degeneration in PD. Currently, he is an Associate Clinician Scientist in charge of the Translational Therapeutics Laboratory of NNI and an Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS, NBD as well as a PI of NMRC and SHF grants.

Research Interest: Dr. Zhi Dong Zhou’s interests lie in identification and verification of novel key molecular targets, signaling pathways or neuro-protective agents relevant to pathogenesis and therapy of debilitating human neurodegenerative diseases, including PD, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Catarina De Marchi Assuncao is a medical neurologist and an Italo-Brazilian neurosciences researcher best known for her work on social media for scientific dissemination. A neurosciences/ neurology Ph.D. laureate, she has a degree in Medicine from Positivo University, and also a neurology medical residency training in neurology at the Red Cross Hospital of Paraná, Brazil. She is currently a teacher and preceptor of the Angelina Caron Hospital Neurology program, and wrote a myriad of scientific peer-reviewed articles, presented her work at international conferences and participated in national radio and TV programs to spread her knowledge in the area. Her primary field of research is the control of epilepsy, has authored several articles on the subject. Her most recent findings include a protocol to identify through electroencephalographic studies a way to diagnose epileptic seizures more quickly. At the beginning of 2018, she was a guest neurologist at several hospitals in the USA, having participated as a physician-researcher at the Jackson Hospital Stroke Unit in Miami, Florida, and as a neurology researcher on family dysautonomia at the Dysautonomia Center at NYU Langone in New York, NY. During the same period, she also completed a rotation at the Massachusetts General Hospital as a guest neurology physician

He was born on 14.07.1988 in Konya. He completed his primary education at Barbaros Primary School and his secondary education at Selçuklu Atatürk High School. He graduated from Dumlupınar University, Biology Department in 2012. In the same year, he started working as a research assistant at Erciyes University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology. He completed his master's (2012-2015) and doctorate (2015-2019) education in the same department. He was appointed as Assistant Professor at Erciyes University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology in 2021 and he still continues his duty. He was entitled to receive the title of associate professor in August 2024. He conducts studies in the field of neuroscience, has experience in electrophysiology, behavioral experiments and molecular techniques.

His master's and doctoral studies (including his thesis studies), researcher Burak Tan gained experience on testing learning/memory functions (such as Morris water maze), recording of hippocampal learning/memory-related synaptic plasticity using electrophysiological recording methods and gained experience with various molecular methods (western-blot, immunohistochemistry, immunufluorrence, ELISA and rt-PCR) to conduct molecular studies in the hippocampus where plasticity was induced after recording procedures. Although he did not directly study a neurodegenerative disease model in his studies, he generally focused on the phosphorylation of Tau protein, one of the proteins that plays a major role in neurodegeneration. He showed that the phosphorylation level of Tau protein in rats with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism models and especially the increased Tau phosphorylation accompanying impaired synaptic plasticity responses in hypothyroid rats could be reversible with Akt activator "SC79". Akt is a protein located in the PI3K-Akt-GSK3B pathway, whose activity is impaired in the development of neurodegeneration. The activity of this pathway causes neurodegeneration, especially in the brain exposed to glutamate excitotoxicity, as a result of changes in its activity.

The data obtained from the master's thesis study (PMID: 33576121, PMID: 33481209) revealed new molecular targets in the treatment of clinical conditions in which hormonal changes such as hyperthyroidism are accompanied by learning and memory disorders. Thus, the findings obtained from the master's thesis study contributed to the accumulation of knowledge in this field.

The data obtained from the doctoral thesis study (PMID: 31069661) contributed to the elucidation of this mechanism of action with electrophysiological and molecular studies in the effect of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism on the hippocampal metaplasticity process. Thus, new molecular targets can be revealed in the treatment of clinical conditions in which hormonal changes are accompanied by disorders in metaplasticity responses. The findings obtained from the study also contributed to the accumulation of knowledge in this field. The results obtained have helped to explain the mechanism of cognitive disorders affecting the quality of life in commonly seen hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism conditions and have revealed new molecular targets in the treatment of clinical conditions accompanied by these cognitive disorders.

Dr. Huanhuan Liu is Associate Professor of Psycholinguistics at the Research Center of Brain and Cognitive Neuroscience of Liaoning Normal University. She earned her PhD from the Department of Psychology at Beijing Normal University. Her research interests include bilingual switching and language learning. She conducted psycholinguistics and neurolinguistic research to study the neurological mechanisms underlying language switching and second language learning using EEG and fMRI. Through these investigations, she aims to advance the understanding of the relationship between human communication cross languages. So far, more than 30 articles have been published as the first author or corresponding author in internationally renowned journals such as NeuroImage, Cerebral Cortex, Human Brain Mapping and Cognition. Meanwhile, some projects have been funded, including National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund, Youth Foundation of Social Science and Humanity, Liaoning Social Science Planning Fund of China, Open Fund of Beijing Key Lab of Applied Experimental Psychology, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and Dalian Science and Technology Star Fund of China
